\n\tIt\u2019s been a long year of waiting since It\u2019s Always Sunny in Philadelphia patriarch Frank Reynolds (Danny DeVito) ended the series\u2019 17th season with lovestruck plans to marry his Golden Bachelor hook-up and poultry heiress Samantha (DeVito\u2019s former Taxi co-star Carol Kane), and it certainly looks like the love birds just might defy all odds to actually tie the knot.<\/p>\n
\n\tAs long as no one dies first. Oh, wait\u2026<\/p>\n
\n\tAmong the many clues in the fast-moving 18th season trailer<\/a> released Wednesday is one that doesn\u2019t portend well for Frank\u2019s marital bliss: Samantha begins the trailer healthy enough but goes full-on Weekend at Bernie\u2019s before she can say \u201cI Do.\u201d<\/p>\n \n\tBut that comes after Frank\u2019s daughter Dee (Kaitlin Olson) gives Samantha a crash course on everything that marriage to Frank entails. No wonder Sam got very cold feet.<\/p>\n \n\tFor Sunny fans, though, the new trailer is a treat, providing a fast-moving glimpse of some of the longtime favorite supporting characters who will be joining Frank, Dee, Charlie, Mac and Dennis in the upcoming season that launches August 17 on FXX<\/a>\/Hulu<\/a>.<\/p>\n \n\tCheck out the trailer below.<\/p>\n \n\tThe trailer begins with a scene in which the Paddy\u2019s Gang is dressed in Renaissance Faire attire (shades of the series\u2019 classic period costume Season 4 episode \u201cThe Gang Cracks the Liberty Bell\u201d). From there the action seems to shift to some Frank and Sam wedding prep with such old-favorite characters as The Waitress, Gail the Snail, Uncle Jack, the McPoyles, Artemis Dubois, Cricket and even, unless eyes deceive, one of Frank\u2019s favorite sex workers.<\/p>\n \n\tIn any case, here\u2019s the official synopsis: <\/p>\n \n\tIn season 18, It\u2019s Always Sunny continues its return to its roots, with 10\u00a0jam-packed\u00a0setups only the Gang could find themselves in. Charlie (Charlie Day), Mac (Rob Mac), Dennis (Glenn Howerton), Dee (Kaitlin Olson), and Frank (Danny DeVito) are wrapped up in salvaging inheritances from a dead woman, surviving tent encampments and the great inside-outside divide between the haves and have-nots, withstanding job loss at the hands of workplace automation, embracing a newfound appreciation for neurodivergence, questioning the fabric of society against conspiracy theories, and of course \u2014 the biggest elephant in the room \u2014 outlasting the public\u2019s pendulum swing against drinking. Not to mention battling nerds, LARPers, and a particularly petulant McPoyle clan at the Renaissance Faire or sportswashing their way back into the good graces of their community by sponsoring a Little League team. All the while trying to\u00a0maintain\u00a0order in their personal lives and at Paddy\u2019s, which have become increasingly lawless and erratic.<\/p>\n \n\tFXX & Hulo further warn: \u201cGet ready for some of the series\u2019 most outrageous moments and star cameos yet. So, step right up to the plate and brace yourself for one hell of a swing. The Gang may be into their 50s and 80s now, but their behavior is more out of control than ever.
