Pittsburgh: Weekend rain prompts Impact Day Sunday<\/p>\n

Rain arrives late Saturday and could last into early next week.<\/p>\n

A quiet end to the week across Western PA with comfortable mornings and seasonal afternoons. Clouds will increase Friday and Saturday before our next chance of rain arrives.<\/p>\n

Impact Day Sunday<\/p>\n

The timing of rain is the biggest question at this point, and the timing will determine how long the rain lasts into next week. Rain could get here as soon as Saturday afternoon and leave as late as Tuesday. Our forecast has rain arriving around sunset Saturday and exiting by sunrise Monday, but the timing could change.<\/p>\n

Pockets of heavy rain, and an embedded thunderstorm, will be with us on Sunday, prompting the Impact Day.<\/p>\n

We won’t have a lot of fuel for storms to form, but a few embedded thunderstorms will be possible with the rain over the weekend. The main concern is the potential for localized flooding from heavy downpours on Sunday. Rainfall totals currently look to be about an inch or less, but locations that see multiple rounds of heavy rain will have the potential to see over an inch of rain. The heavier pockets of rain will be our concern to cause localized flooding problems through Sunday night.<\/p>\n

Once the rain exits, temperatures warm into the middle and upper 80s as we head into next week. Rain and thunderstorm chances may return as we head into the middle of next week.<\/p>\n
