An 82-year-old Dickson City man died after his vehicle went into a retention pond near Mount Airy Casino Resort in Monroe County on Wednesday evening, according to Monroe County Coroner Thomas Yanac.<\/p>\n
At about 6:11 p.m., emergency personnel responded to the report of a vehicle into a pond near Woodland Drive in Mount Pocono, Paradise Twp.<\/p>\n
The driver, identified as 82-year-old John Radzikowski Jr. of Dickson City, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to Yanac.<\/p>\n
Investigators determined Radzikowski\u2019s vehicle hit a small curb and became airborne. Because of decreased grading between the curb and the pond, the vehicle didn\u2019t make contact with the ground but went directly into the pond, where it sank.<\/p>\n
Emergency responders found him dead in the vehicle. A female passenger was removed and transported to a hospital.<\/p>\n
State police say the investigation is ongoing.<\/p>\n
