{"id":256663,"date":"2026-07-31T20:58:19","date_gmt":"2026-07-31T20:58:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/256663\/"},"modified":"2026-07-31T20:58:19","modified_gmt":"2026-07-31T20:58:19","slug":"tornado-warning-issued-for-part-of-northampton-monroe-county","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/256663\/","title":{"rendered":"Tornado warning issued for part of Northampton, Monroe County"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A severe thunderstorm prompted a tornado warning for parts of Northampton and Monroe counties Tuesday afternoon.<\/p>\n<p>The warning was in effect until 2:15 p.m. for east central Monroe and northeastern Northampton counties in Pennsylvania, as well as southwestern Sussex and northern Warren counties in northwestern New Jersey.<\/p>\n<p>The National Weather Service said radar indicated a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado over Columbia, New Jersey, at about 1:50 p.m.<\/p>\n<p>After the storm, some residents on social media were reporting damage such as downed trees in the Bangor area. As of 4 p.m. Met-Ed reported around 443 outages in Upper Mount Bethel Township.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.mcall.com\/2026\/07\/28\/allentown-weather-flash-flood-warning\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">The region is under a severe thunderstorm watch until 8 p.m., and a flood watch until\u00a0 8 p.m. Wednesday<\/a>.
