BIRDSBORO, Pa. — Saturday was the third annual overdose awareness poker run in Birdsboro.<\/p>\n
Jolynn Melendez-Ortiz lost her son Dominick to fentanyl poisoning in 2023.<\/p>\n
She started this run the year after his death to help give back.<\/p>\n
All proceeds raised helped create recovery baskets that will go to a Berks County recovery home.<\/p>\n
“My son was 30 when he passed away, he didn’t have time to build his own legacy, so I feel like this is my way of building his legacy for him since he was so young when he passed,” said Melendez-Ortiz.\u00a0<\/p>\n
They’ve been able to help 50 people going into recovery homes so far.<\/p>\n
