Rainfall totals were lower in the Lehigh Valley, according to those reports, which showed the highest in Lehigh County as Emmaus at 3.19 inches. In Northampton County, Portland had 4.77 inches, according to weather service data.

Still, flash flooding was also reported in parts of Lehigh County, mainly in the Upper Saucon Township area, according to Mike Gorse, meteorologist for the National Weather Service in Mount Holly, New Jersey. Across the region, flooding extended from Upper Bucks to Warren and Hunterdon counties in New Jersey, he said.

The Lehigh Valley initially was under a flood watch through Wednesday evening, but the weather service canceled it late Tuesday night. Gorse said the storm system was tracking north of the area. There is still a possibility of rain Wednesday, but it is low.

Things start to quiet down but unsettled pattern persists. While the flooding threat has decreased, a few showers and isolated thunderstorms should develop later this afternoon over the northern half of the area. Impacts will be much less compared to yesterday though. pic.twitter.com/fpud1CjvTC

— NWS Mount Holly (@NWS_MountHolly) July 29, 2026

Heavy rain fell off and on throughout the day Tuesday, and tapered off before midnight. Route 309 in Upper Saucon Township flooded, and a mud slide was reported on Riverside Driver in nearby Lower Saucon Township.

Flooding was also reported on Route 611 in Upper Mount Bethel Township, according to PennDOT. The road is closed at Slateford Road. It was expected to be reopened Wednesday afternoon.

Northampton County Director of Emergency Management Services Michael Lenner said there were 56 incidents related to the storm, but the overall call volume for the day was about the same as normal.

Conditions were worse in Upper Bucks. Quakertown encouraged residents to stay inside during the storm. Flooding was reported in Quakertown Farmers Market, according to social media posts. Several vendors reported leaking ceilings and flooding intheir stores.

Bucks County spokesperson James O’Malley said the county’s emergency management has been in contact with the borough to help address any needs it may have. He said the Quakertown Fire Company responded to several reports of vehicles trapped in water during the storm. Some homes on Washington Court were evacuated because of flooded basements, O’Malley said.

The storms came amid preparations for Musikfest, the annual 10-day festival that takes place in Bethlehem’s North and South sides. The first day of the festival is Friday, and flooding has caused issues there in the past. Ray Neeb, senior vice president of operations of ArtsQuest, which runs the festival, said Wednesday that staff and volunteers prepared by working ahead of the storm, and everything is on schedule. He said the set-up had to be stopped twice for safety.

A tornado warning went into effect briefly Tuesday afternoon in northeastern Northampton County, but Gorse said the weather service did not receive any reports of a tornado.

There is a slight chance of rain Wednesday and Thursday.
