Police\u00a0are searching for a gunman after an innocent Walmart employee was shot during an apparent dispute between two men inside a\u00a0Pennsylvania\u00a0store Friday evening, authorities said.<\/p>\n
Officers responded to the Walmart at 50 McDade Blvd. in Darby Township, Delaware County, shortly after 7 p.m. after reports of gunfire inside the store.<\/p>\n
Darby Township Police Chief Michael Sousa told Fox News Digital investigators believe two men got into a verbal altercation in the self-checkout area before one of them pulled out a handgun and fired.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt looked like, from what we\u2019re gathering with my detectives, two males get into a verbal altercation at self-checkout,\u201d Sousa said. <\/p>\n
\u201cOne of the males brandishes a firearm, fires a round indiscriminately and hits one of the female Walmart employees in the leg \u2014 not the subject he was arguing with.\u201d<\/p>\n
The employee was transported to a hospital.<\/p>\n
Sousa did not immediately provide an update on her condition.<\/p>\n
The suspect fled before officers arrived and remains at large.<\/p>\n
