For more than 125 years<\/a>\u200a\u2014\u200aNotre Dame Football has been one of the most legendary programs in all of college football<\/a>. From Knute Rockne to Ara Parseghian to Lou Holtz<\/a>\u200a\u2014\u200aNotre Dame has sustained Championship-caliber form for over a century. More recently though\u200a\u2014\u200athe Fighting Irish have struggled to achieve the success<\/a> of other programs on the National stage.<\/p>\n

But all of that is changing with\u200a\u2014\u200ayou guessed it\u200a\u2014\u200athanks in part to a Philly connection.<\/p>\n

Notre Dame\u2019s freshman roster includes two talents. Joey O\u2019Brien and offensive tackle Grayson McKeogh from La Salle College High<\/a> School. Last season\u200a\u2014\u200aMcKeogh and O\u2019Brien were part of a championship team that overtook St. Joseph\u2019s Prep 31\u201320 to take home the Catholic<\/a> League 6A Title and them proceeded to win a PIAA 6A State Championship defeating Pittsburgh Central Catholic<\/a>.<\/p>\n

McKeogh is a ranked as a Three-Star Prospect<\/a> by ESPN and Rivals.com ranks Joey O\u2019Brien as the top safety recruit in America<\/a>.<\/p>\n

In Head Coach Marcus Freeman\u2019s last three seasons<\/a> at Notre Dame\u200a\u2014\u200athe team has won at least ten games each year. In 2024\u200a\u2014\u200athe Fighting Irish even advanced to the CFP National Championship<\/a> Game before losing to the Ohio State Buckeyes. Last season\u200a\u2014\u200athe Irish even recovered from an 0\u20132 start to finish<\/a> at 10\u20132 but did not qualify for the College Football Playoffs.<\/p>\n

Notre Dame has achieved this return to being one of top football programs in the country by finding talent from all over the country\u200a\u2014\u200aincluding from Philadelphia. Notre Dame\u2019s season last year included a 49\u201314 throttling of ranked Army<\/a> at Yankee Stadium behind Jeremiyah Love\u2019s 99-yard touchdown run. In 2024, Irvington, New Jersey\u2019s Adon Shuler returned<\/a> an interception thirty-six yards for the Irish to seal a win over Georgia Tech.<\/p>\n

Last season, Shuler was once again shining<\/a> for #9 Notre Dame. Against #23 Pitt, Schuler continued<\/a> a great season on defense<\/a> with a 100-yard interception return for a touchdown<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Pennsylvania talent has long had a positive impact<\/a> on Notre Dame\u2019s success\u200a\u2014\u200aincluding<\/a> Joe Montana from New Eagle, Mike McGlinchey from Philadelphia, Heisman Trophy winner<\/a> Johnny Lujack from Connellsville, and quarterback Cliff Brown<\/a>. Brown won a National Championship at Notre Dame and was drafted in the seventeenth round<\/a> of the 1974 Draft by the Eagles. Josh Adams from Warrington<\/a> was also an Eagle.<\/p>\n

Once again\u200a\u2014\u200alike at hundreds of College Football Programs all over America\u200a\u2014\u200aPhiladelphia talent is making an impact.<\/p>\n
