After the owner\u2019s announcement in October 2024, the legendary business remained open.<\/p>\n
On Monday, a real estate firm listed the business at 905 Wyoming Ave. for sale for $799,000.<\/p>\n
The famous pizza recipe is being sold separately, but no price was listed on the real estate listing by Crossin Real Estate.<\/p>\n
\u201cLocation! Location! Location!,\u201d the listing said about the one-acre property across from the Midway Shopping Center.<\/p>\n
\u201cAccording to the sellers, they are going to try to keep operating while it\u2019s being sold,\u201d the listing agent Ken Bond said Monday.<\/p>\n
Jim Mirabelli, who runs NEPA Pizza Review, which has more than 61,000 followers online, said the founders of Victory Pig were trendsetters generations ago.<\/p>\n
\u201cVictory Pig deserves recognition as the birthplace of NEPA\u2019s pan-fried Sicilian pizza, a local style that has grown into one of our region\u2019s defining foods with dozens of pizzerias in Luzerne County and beyond tracing their lineage back to the original,\u201d Mirabelli said. \u201cFew restaurants have had a greater influence on NEPA\u2019s pizza culture or left a legacy that continues to shape what we eat today. I hope that legacy can continue on in some meaningful way so future generations can enjoy.\u201d<\/p>\n

In addition to the sale of the property and recipe, the owner is selling the restaurant\u2019s liquor license.<\/p>\n
After rumors surfaced in October 2024 that the business would close, Victory Pig fans from all over visited for what they thought would be one last pilgrimage to stock up on the famous pan-fried pizza.<\/p>\n
On the day the rumored closing hit social media, vehicle after vehicle kept pulling in, overwhelming the lone waitress performing the shop\u2019s trademark curbside service. The dining room had been closed since the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020.<\/p>\n
Richard Ceccoli, the fourth-generation owner, confirmed the business was closing while boxing pizza orders as fast as he could inside the restaurant\u2019s kitchen.<\/p>\n
\u201cI hate to say it, but we are. It\u2019s in the near future,\u201d Ceccoli said at the time.<\/p>\n

In October 2024, a real estate listing for the property noted it was for sale for $1.2 million, with the furniture, fixtures, equipment and its liquor license being sold separately. The listing said the property was \u201cunder contract.\u201d It\u2019s not immediately clear why the deal was never finalized.<\/p>\n
Ceccoli\u2019s grandparents, Louis and Lee Ceccoli, opened Victory Pig in 1942 as a barbecue restaurant specializing in pork sandwiches, hence the official name it long carried, \u201cVictory Pig Pizza & Barbecue.\u201d<\/p>\n
As the story goes, years after opening the barbecue joint, Lee Ceccoli brought her Italian immigrant husband four cuts of pizza for lunch one day and he sold them for a nickel each to curious people who never heard of pizza before.<\/p>\n
That launched the Victory Pig pizza craze that has lasted until now.<\/p>\n
Wyoming Mayor Joe Dominick said the future sale will be an end of an era.<\/p>\n
