And then some of the Philadelphia-specific factors like the district attorney race and its connection to some progressive politics within the city,\u201d said Borick.\n<\/p>\n<p>Bob Brady, longtime chairman of the Philadelphia Democratic Party, agreed that the president played a role. But he also noted the quality of the candidates on the ballot.\n<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe did good. Real good,\u201d said Brady. \u201cWe went out there and worked hard and our candidates worked hard.\u201d\n  <\/p>\n<p>Part of a bigger trend<\/p>\n<p>Tuesday\u2019s election handed Democrats victories across the country, including in <a href=\"https:\/\/whyy.org\/articles\/new-jersey-election-2025-governor-race-ciattarelli-sherrill\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">New Jersey<\/a> and the <a href=\"https:\/\/whyy.org\/articles\/election-2025-pennsylvania-delaware-county-council\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">suburbs of Philadelphia<\/a>. What that may mean for next year\u2019s midterm elections is unclear, especially considering the volatility and unpredictable nature that Trump has displayed during his second term in office.\n<\/p>\n<p>Borick, with Muhlenberg College, said Democrats should be encouraged by Tuesday\u2019s results, especially in Philadelphia.\n<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s a great sign for Democrats,\u201d he said.In many ways, Philadelphia is the engine of Democratic success in Pennsylvania.
