{"id":259042,"date":"2026-08-04T16:26:13","date_gmt":"2026-08-04T16:26:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/259042\/"},"modified":"2026-08-04T16:26:13","modified_gmt":"2026-08-04T16:26:13","slug":"bethel-park-school-district-delays-2026-school-start-for-opening-of-new-elementary-school","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/259042\/","title":{"rendered":"Bethel Park School District delays 2026 school start for opening of new elementary school"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Bethel Park pushes 2026-2027 school start date back for opening of new elementary school<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/853c053a-375d-4f49-afda-568da22e36ea_1727472834.png\" width=\"48\" height=\"48\" alt=\"Caitlyn Scott\" loading=\"lazy\"\/>BETHEL PARK, Pa. \u2014<\/p>\n<p data-node-id=\"0\">An Allegheny County school district has moved the first day of school for all students, implementing a two-day delayed start tied to the opening of the district&#8217;s new elementary school. <\/p>\n<p data-node-id=\"1\">VIDEO: Top stories on Pittsburgh&#8217;s Action News 4 <\/p>\n<p data-node-id=\"2\">In a release Monday, the Bethel Park School District said it has moved the first day of school for all students to Thursday, Sept. 3, 2026.  <\/p>\n<p data-node-id=\"3\">The district&#8217;s superintendent, Dr. Matthew Patterson, said the building will be ready for instruction by the original target date, but &#8220;the additional time will allow faculty and staff to review emergency procedures, verify safety equipment and finalize arrival and dismissal routines before the students\u2019 arrival.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p data-node-id=\"4\">Patterson, according to the release, said the extra days will also help high-traffic back-to-school events \u2014 including Walk Your Schedule and Kindergarten Orientation \u2014 run smoothly for families.<\/p>\n<p data-node-id=\"5\">Other date changes have also been made.
