A 17-year-old Wilkes-Barre resident shot and severely injured a Scranton man early Tuesday during an altercation in the Hill Section, police charge.<\/p>\n
The incident occurred at 3:05 a.m. in the 1800 block of Roselynn Street, where police responded to a report of shots fired. The scene near Roaring Brook is between Colfax and Arthur avenues in the Hill Section neighborhood.<\/p>\n
Police found Ezekiel Soto, 21, of Scranton suffering from multiple gunshot wounds and rendered aid until EMS arrived. A Pennsylvania Ambulance crew took Soto to the nearby Geisinger Community Medical Center, where he underwent emergency surgery for serious injuries.<\/p>\n
Police recovered evidence, viewed surveillance video from the area and interviewed witnesses. The investigation resulted in the juvenile identified as the suspected shooter and being taken into custody. The shooting stemmed from an altercation between the minor and Soto, police said.<\/p>\n
Authorities charged the teen with three felonies: aggravated assault, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and firearms not to be carried without a license. Misdemeanor charges are pending.<\/p>\n
