NORTHAMPTON COUNTY, Pa. – It’s time for the annual community-building event that brings first responders and residents together, for a National Night Out.<\/p>\n
“I’m just looking forward to interacting with the community,” said Slate Belt Regional Police Department Sgt. Shawn Moskella.<\/p>\n
In Northampton County, the night is just getting started.<\/p>\n
Moskella has spent months prepping activities.<\/p>\n
“I decided four years ago that we should do it. I just thought that it would be something good to, to for the community come out,” said Moskella.<\/p>\n
The food truck aromas, dunk tank splashes, face painting smudges and a wind-blown special appearance from a DEA helicopter, all transform Wind Gap Park.<\/p>\n
“It’s great weather. We hope to have a great turnout,” said Moskella.<\/p>\n
In the City of Easton, the tents are pitched and last minute preparations are in full swing.<\/p>\n
“It’s a great time for the citizens to come out, interact with their local officers,” said Easton Police Department Capt. Salvatore Crisafulli.<\/p>\n
The police department is hosting events on the city’s West Ward and South Side. Locations are N. 12th Street next to Paxinosa School in West Ward and Pioneer Park on the South Side.<\/p>\n
Crisafulli said every year, officers have a goal to not only host fun community-driven events but build a safer, stronger Easton.<\/p>\n
“Most police interactions are not positive,” said Crisafulli. “The community can interact with the police and vice versa, and speak with officers in a relaxed setting.”<\/p>\n
Both events will run until 8 p.m. on Tuesday.<\/p>\n
