CLARKS SUMMIT \u2014 Mike O\u2019Neil, owner of The Nyx in Clarks Summit, purchased the popular bar restaurant in December 2025.<\/p>\n
\u201cI had been going there as a customer for years, and when the opportunity came up to buy it, I decided I couldn\u2019t pass it up,\u201d said O\u2019Neil, of Ransom.<\/p>\n
The Nyx was named Best Corner Bar & Hamburger in the Times Leader Media Group\u2019s Best of Lackawanna promotion.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019ve lived in Ransom for 25 years,\u201d O\u2019Neil said. \u201cI have two daughters who both help out at the bar when they\u2019re not at work or school. The bar had been in operation as The Nyx for just about 11 years when I bought it. I kept the menu and the decorating style from the original owners, with some slight changes. I thought that would help to make sure the regulars that had been going there for years would still feel comfortable, knowing they could sit at their usual table and get their usual burgers.\u201d<\/p>\n
O\u2019Neil said he brought on a chef trained at the Culinary Institute of America who makes amazing food.<\/p>\n
\u201cHis name is Will, and he\u2019s known to walk through the bar and talk to my friends and the regulars about what they like and what they would like to see in the future,\u201d O\u2019Neil said. \u201cWe added special nights like Taco Tuesday, Clam Night Wednesday, and we do trivia every other Wednesday. We also have live local bands on the weekends. I try to make sure there\u2019s always something going on to draw new people to the bar so that they can experience the amazing food and drinks, too.\u201d<\/p>\n
O\u2019Neil said he is planning an outdoor Oktoberfest celebration for Sept. 19, featuring live music, drink specials, and a mechanical bull. He said he is coordinating that event with the Clarks Summit Borough, Tommy from the State Street Grill, and Mark from The Lounge of the Abingtons.<\/p>\n
\u201cI love this community, and my goal is to give it a bar that feels like a familiar, comfortable place \u2014 great food and great drinks,\u201d O\u2019Neil said. But, equally important, a place where you always feel welcome, have a great time while you\u2019re there, and leave happier than when you came in.\u201d<\/p>\n
O\u2019Neil said The Nyx is a comfortable bar with beer, wine, cocktails and burgers served up in a casual setting, featuring TVs and a pool table.<\/p>\n
