{"id":259647,"date":"2026-08-05T13:14:11","date_gmt":"2026-08-05T13:14:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/259647\/"},"modified":"2026-08-05T13:14:11","modified_gmt":"2026-08-05T13:14:11","slug":"blood-drive-to-honor-fallen-berks-police-officer","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/259647\/","title":{"rendered":"Blood drive to honor fallen Berks police officer"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Life Plasma Blood Centers in Pottstown is conducting a blood drive to honor fallen Central Berks Regional police Officer <a href=\"https:\/\/www.readingeagle.com\/2026\/06\/09\/mourners-bid-farewell-to-a-berks-fallen-police-officer-kristen-yeager\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Kristen Yeager<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The drive continues through Aug. 7 then resumes Aug. 10 to 14 at the Pottstown center, 223 Shoemaker Road, Suite 171D. Hours are 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily. No appointment is necessary, and walk-ins are welcome, officials said.<\/p>\n<p>Life Plasma staff will have a memorial event Aug. 12 at noon to commemorate Yeager\u2019s life, service and lasting impact on the community. (Central Berks Regional Police Department)<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOfficer Yeager dedicated her life to protecting and serving others. We are asking the community to continue that legacy by taking a few minutes to give blood and help save the lives of local patients,\u201d Nagesh Ramesh, Life Plasma Blood Centers president, said in the announcement of the drive. \u201cOne donation can reach as many as three people. Together, we can ensure that Officer Yeager\u2019s courage, compassion and commitment to others continue to make a difference.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>On May 29, just before 8 p.m., Yeager, 42, was driving her police cruiser \u2014 lights flashing and sirens blaring \u2014 in response to a call. While eastbound on Route 73 in Earl Township her cruiser left the road and crashed into a tree, authorities said.<\/p>\n<p>Yeager was thrown from the vehicle, suffering devastating <a href=\"https:\/\/www.readingeagle.com\/2026\/06\/03\/coroner-announces-cause-of-central-berks-officers-death\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">blunt force injuries<\/a>, authorities said.
