\t\t\tOBITUARY\t\t<\/p>\n
Michael A. Anthony, a nearly lifelong Scranton resident, passed away Saturday evening at home. He was 68 years young.<\/p>\n
\nBorn in Scranton on December 1, 1957, and son of the late Ann and Patrick Eugene O\u2019Neill, Michael was educated at the former Scranton Technical High School. He proudly served in the U.S. Army for 10 years working in Wire Guided Missile Systems, attended Redstone Arsenal Federal Research center before his honorable discharge from service. He also studied at Temple and Marywood University. Afterwards He spent sometime in law Enforcement then proceeded as a Truck driver and became an owner operator of his own trucking Company.<\/p>\n
\nMichael will be remembered in countless ways. He had the best sense of humor, laugh, and the kindest heart \u2013 a true heart of Gold. He always put the needs of everyone else first before himself and always lent a hand to anyone in need. He had a way of making those around him feel special.<\/p>\n
\nHe also loved ham radio (call sign was WB3FEQ), and he never passed up the opportunity to go fishing, have a cup of coffee, show his love of animals, listen to the Weather reports on his handheld radio, research anything about science \u2013 especially aliens, and spend time with his friends, always taking the time to check in on them.<\/p>\n
\nAbove all else, Michael adored his family who will forever miss him.<\/p>\n
\nHe is survived by his loving family, including his beloved wife of 48 years, Un Anthony; his children, Angela Anthony and boyfriend Frank Cardamone of Scranton, Julie Anthony and boyfriend Keith Rondinella of Pittston, Michael Anthony of Scranton, Angelo Anthony of Scranton and Chris Kurtonic of Archbald who Michael considered a \u201cthird son\u201d; his four grandchildren, Harper and Willa Cardamone, Madyson Hutchinson and boyfriend Nestor Colon and Giavanna Rondinella; and one great-grandchild Neilaniz Lala Colon, siblings, Patrick O\u2019Neill and Theresa Kochis, both of Moosic; and nieces and nephews.<\/p>\n
\nHe was also preceded in death by a brother, Joseph O\u2019Neill.<\/p>\n
\nHis family would like to acknowledge and thank the amazing staff of both the V.A. Medical Center, Dr. Justin Thomas and Hospice of the Sacred Heart, his Nurse Samantha as well as Michael\u2019s loyal friends for their collective care and compassion throughout his illness.<\/p>\n
\nA funeral Mass is scheduled for Friday at 10:00 AM at St. Paul\u2019s Roman Catholic Church, 1510 Penn Ave., Scranton. Those attending the funeral are asked to go directly to church.<\/p>\n
