A second QR code will link to a how-to video explaining the process of creating a Storybook Trail.<\/p>\n“I’m really excited for people to come out and enjoy it as much as we do,” Laurin said. “And I hope they make a lot of memories and stuff out here.”<\/p>\n
Laurin said her inspiration came from her sister, who completed a similar project at Asbury Woods. She wanted to build on that idea while creating a resource that could be replicated elsewhere.<\/p>\n
Headwaters Park manager and Erie County Conservation District environmental educator Kristen Currier said the project has already received positive feedback from visitors and marks the first Storybook Trail installed at the park.<\/p>\n
“We have not had a Storybook Trail here at Headwaters,” Currier said. “It’s really something that can be for all ages. It can be for families, for the older generation, for younger children. It’s something they can enjoy at their own pace, on their own schedule.”<\/p>\n
Currier said the conservation district was eager to support the project when Laurin approached the organization with the idea.<\/p>\n
“It was wonderful to have her reach out to us with this unique opportunity,” Currier said. “We were very happy to support her in her efforts.”<\/p>\n
Laurin also credited family members, friends and community partners for helping bring the project to life, including donations of materials and support throughout the process.<\/p>\n
The Storybook Trail will remain at Headwaters Park through Aug. 28. Visitors are encouraged to leave a tally mark at the end of the trail after completing the story.
