PHILADELPHIA \u2014 A Philadelphia man will spend more than a decade in prison for his role in multiple area robberies that targeted armored trucks, including one in the Elkins Park section of Cheltenham Township.<\/p>\n
Mujahid Davis, 24, was sentenced in U.S. District Court in Philadelphia to 11 years in a federal prison after he pleaded guilty to two Hobbs Act robberies, two attempted Hobbs Act robberies and one count of brandishing, using or carrying a firearm during a violent crime in connection with incidents that occurred between July and October in 2025.<\/p>\n
The Hobbs Act is a federal law that addresses robbery or extortion that affects interstate or foreign commerce.<\/p>\n
U.S. District Court Judge Gail A. Weilheimer also ordered Davis to complete five years\u2019 supervised release, or probation, and to pay $134,000 in restitution.<\/p>\n
According to court filings Davis, with others, participated in the following crimes: the July 2, 2025, robbery of a Brinks truck in Philadelphia; the July 15, 2025, attempted robbery of a Brinks truck in Philadelphia; the Aug. 12, 2025, robbery of a Brinks truck in Elkins Park; and the Oct. 3, 2025, attempted robbery of a Brinks truck in Philadelphia.<\/p>\n
According to the FBI\u2019s Philadelphia Field Office, the Aug. 12 incident occurred while a Brinks truck was servicing a store in the 7300 block of Old York Road in the Elkins Park section of Cheltenham.<\/p>\n
As the Brinks employee walked toward the entrance of the store, two suspects approached the employee, one armed with a black handgun and the other armed with an AR-style rifle. The suspects took a bag filled with cash and fled the scene in a black Acura, which was later abandoned, according to the FBI\u2019s website.<\/p>\n
No shots were fired and no one was injured during the Elkins Park incident.<\/p>\n
Davis\u2019 co-defendant, Dante Shackleford, 27, also of Philadelphia, pleaded guilty in April to three attempted Hobbs Act robberies, one Hobbs Act robbery and carrying, using and brandishing a firearm in connection with the incidents. Shackleford faces sentencing later this month, according to U.S. Attorney David Metcalf.<\/p>\n
The FBI Philadelphia Violent Crimes Task Force and the Philadelphia Police Department investigated the incidents.<\/p>\n
