National Museum of Industrial History, where visitors can view the collection before it is sealed later this year.

The project, a partnership between the museum and the Lehigh Valley Economic Development Corporation, is part of the nation’s 250th birthday celebration and is designed to preserve a snapshot of the region in 2026.

The time capsule features items from about 18 manufacturers, businesses and organizations that reflect the Lehigh Valley’s economy, innovation and culture.

The collection includes Crayola crayons, a Musikfest mug, a box of Peeps, and memorabilia from local sports teams, among other contributions.

Museum Director of Development Megan Pildis said the collection is meaningful because it represents the region as a whole.

“It’s not that there’s any one thing that I think would stand out as much as the collection as a whole is a really good representation of who we are in the Lehigh Valley,” Pildis said.

Each item was donated by a Lehigh Valley company or organization, highlighting the manufacturing, technology, arts and community institutions that continue to shape the region. Pildis said the exhibit also reflects why the Lehigh Valley continues to attract businesses and residents.

“It’s a great place to live, it’s a great place to work. Things are really happening here in terms of the economy and manufacturing and quality of life,” she said.

The capsule will remain on display at the museum until it is sealed later this year. It is scheduled to be opened in 2076, when the United States celebrates the 300th anniversary.

[10
119,121,120
post-260548","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-allentown","tag-allentown","tag-allentown-headlines","tag-allentown-news
["GET
