FORECAST SUMMARY<\/p>\n
Hit-or-miss thunderstorms and gully-washing downpours will continue through this evening, with some storms having the potential to become severe. As such, the Lehigh Valley is under a marginal risk (level 1 of 5) for severe weather, though the most pertinent threat currently looks to be heavy downpours that could lead to flash flooding. It’ll be rinse and repeat for Friday and Saturday, with high humidity levels continuing and temperatures once again near 90 degrees. Friday afternoon and evening will deliver the best chance for locally heavy downpours and thunderstorms, with a smaller chance later Saturday. The combination of heat and humidity can cause feels-like temperatures to climb to around 100 degrees Friday afternoon, leading to a heat advisory through 8 PM on Friday (and through Saturday in the Delaware Valley). Thankfully, we’ll get a break in the unsettled weather as we head into the second half of the weekend and the start of the workweek, though conditions will still be above average and humid with partly sunny skies and highs well into the 80s.<\/p>\n

Afternoon and evening scattered thunderstorms will persist through Friday, keeping conditions sticky with dewpoints in the low-to-mid 70s. Thursday night will be mostly cloudy in the wake of those showers and thunderstorms, remaining warm and muggy with areas of fog. Friday will start off partly sunny, though high temperatures and humidity will cast a hazy look over the sky. With temperatures in the upper 80s to near 90 degrees and dewpoints in the 70s, feels-like temperatures could easily peak around 100 degrees, keeping a heat advisory in effect until 8 PM Friday. As we head into Friday afternoon and evening, even more showers and thunderstorms return, with the potential to turn severe. Friday night will remain warm and muggy, with temperatures lingering around 70 degrees.<\/p>\n
THIS WEEKEND<\/p>\n
It’ll be a mixed weekend forecast-wise, with Saturday featuring isolated shower and thunderstorm chances and Sunday being mostly sunny. Saturday will not be a washout, and storms aren’t expected to become severe. However, any storm can produce heavy downpours that could lead to flash flooding. Sunday will be the pick of the weekend, remaining largely dry. A pop-up isolated shower or thunderstorm cannot be completely ruled out, though the threat remains low. Both days will be fairly sticky as humidity stays high, and we’ll see temperatures peak in the upper 80s.<\/p>\n
EARLY NEXT WEEK<\/p>\n
Monday looks to pick up where Sunday left off, featuring morning sun with clouds building toward the afternoon. There is a slight chance for an isolated shower or thunderstorm on Monday, though the threat is low. More unsettled weather arrives Tuesday and Wednesday as a cold front from the Great Lakes pushes across Pennsylvania. Expect dry mornings followed by wet afternoons and evenings. The best news is that temperatures and humidity levels will decline, with highs dropping from the upper 80s into the mid-80s and dewpoints returning to the mid-to-low 60s by Wednesday for comfier weather later next week.<\/p>\n
