After a fire six months ago destroyed part of Lehigh Valley Health Network\u2019s hospital in Dickson City, the organization this week reopened its orthopedics center in Dunmore.<\/p>\n
The fire on Feb. 4 destroyed the Orthopedic Institute attached to Lehigh Valley Hospital\u2013Dickson City.<\/p>\n
On Monday, LVHN announced the opening of a new \u201cLVHN\u2013Dunmore,\u201d an orthopedic destination center, at 1010 O\u2019Neill Highway (Route 347) in Dunmore.<\/p>\n
The announcement said LVHN\u2013Dunmore offers a wide array of musculoskeletal services, including walk-in orthopedic care and specialized care in orthopedics, sports medicine and podiatry, as well as walk-in injury care, rehabilitation services and cardiac diagnostic services.<\/p>\n
\u201cOpening LVHN\u2013Dunmore is the first of many comebacks for the Scranton community. We are deeply grateful for your support and confidence in us during this time of rebuilding,\u201d Thomas Graham, M.D., chief of Jefferson Orthopedics and physician in chief of Lehigh Valley Orthopedic Institute, said in a statement. \u201cWith surgical and nonsurgical orthopedic experts in one location, you\u2019ll receive the same world-class care you\u2019ve trusted in this community for more than 30 years.\u201d<\/p>\n
Raymond Bernardi, PharmD, vice president of operations, LVH\u2013Dickson City, also said in a statement, \u201cWe are committed to providing exceptional healthcare close to home and investing in the Scranton community as we rebuild following the LVH\u2013Dickson City fire. At LVHN\u2013Dunmore, you have access to the expanded services you expect and deserve right here in your neighborhood.\u201d<\/p>\n
LVHN\u2013Dunmore is opening in phases and a media event would be held once the center is fully open, likely in October, a Jefferson Health spokesperson said Thursday.<\/p>\n
Asked if LVHN intends to rebuild the part destroyed in the fire, the spokesperson said, \u201cLVHN-Dunmore is a new destination center for orthopedic care in the region. We look forward to sharing more about Dickson City at a later time.\u201d<\/p>\n
A July 27 article in The Times-Tribune reported the cause of the fire was undetermined and remained under joint investigation by insurance companies; and Dickson City has not received any plans from LVHN for rebuilding the orthopedic facility or any other structure at the hospital site.<\/p>\n

After the fire, the hospital\u2019s main building that has an emergency department, surgical services and inpatient care reopened on Feb. 13.<\/p>\n
On Feb. 26, LVHN announced it opened a rehabilitation-services location at 1010 O\u2019Neill Highway in Dunmore. At this same time, the network also opened at 1141 Clay Ave. in Dunmore the LVPG (Lehigh Valley Physicians Group) Orthopedics and Sports Medicine-Dunmore practice. This Clay Avenue location was temporary, and it was LVHN\u2019s fifth orthopedic practice in the area. The other four included two in Scranton, and one each in Carbondale and Pittston.\n<\/p>\n
