So it was with great delight that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2026\/08\/04\/arts\/music\/mozart-librettist-da-ponte-american-descendant.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Pennsylvanians learned from The New York Times<\/a> this week that the great Lorenzo Da Ponte, Mozart\u2019s famed librettist of classics like \u201cDon Giovanni,\u201d spent time as a small-town grocer in Sunbury, where \u2013 like so many New Yorkers seeking affordability \u2013 he had settled during a nadir in his colorful life of perpetual reinvention.
