Patients across Berks County and the surrounding region now have greater access to advanced treatment for heart rhythm disorders following an expansion of Reading Hospital\u2019s Electrophysiology (EP) Laboratory at the Miller Heart Center.<\/p>\n
Made possible through a $4.6 million philanthropic investment raised by the Reading Hospital Foundation, the expansion increases capacity for specialized cardiac procedures and strengthens access to care close to home.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis project demonstrates what is possible when a community invests in its own healthcare future,\u201d said Katherine Thornton, President of the Reading Hospital Foundation. \u201cThe generosity of our donors made this expansion possible and will help more patients receive life-saving cardiac care close to home.\u201d<\/p>\n
Heart rhythm disorders, including atrial fibrillation, can increase the risk of stroke, heart failure, and other serious health complications. The expanded EP Lab enhances Reading Hospital\u2019s ability to diagnose and treat these conditions, reducing the need for patients to travel outside the region for advanced care.<\/p>\n
The upgraded space enables physicians and care teams to perform more advanced procedures, including catheter ablations, cardiac device implantations, and other minimally invasive treatments.<\/p>\n
