An 18-year-old woman and a 13-year-old juvenile were killed and a 12-year-old girl was seriously hurt in a one-vehicle UTV accident in Susquehanna County on Wednesday afternoon, according to state police at Gibson.<\/p>\n
The accident happened at about 2:50 p.m. on Butterfield Road in New Milford Twp., police said in a news release. A 2025 Can Am Defender UTV, traveling north, traveled across the south travel lane onto the gravel berm and struck a tree, police said.<\/p>\n
The driver, Taryn M. Briggs, 18, of New Milford, was ejected from the vehicle, as was one of the two passengers, a 13-year-old from Springville.<\/p>\n
Briggs was transported to Endless Mountains Hospital, where she was pronounced dead, police said. The 13-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene, about 500 feet north of Conklin Road.<\/p>\n
A second passenger, a 12-year-old girl from Springville, was taken to Wilson Memorial Hospital, in Johnson City, New York, for treatment of serious injuries, police said.<\/p>\n
The news release did not list the names of the juveniles.<\/p>\n
