READING, Pa – Think Broadway meets baseball.<\/p>\n
You may have heard of that other fruit-monikered madness currently taking over America’s pastime — but this is another brand — and it’s called Boom Ball.<\/p>\n
“Look, I can’t dog on the Bananas at all. They built a great product and they’ve got a massive wave. They’re doing something right, but when it comes to us, we’re trying to cause this unique scenario, this unique game play in event show baseball and I think we’re doing well right now,” said Boom Ball ballplayer Zach Cornell.<\/p>\n
It’s certainly an event and a show. They’re athletes with unique backgrounds, and performers. One player says it’s really brought out the best in him.<\/p>\n
“Honestly I was more of a shy kid, I didn’t do things like that, but I felt like I was always performing, even if it was athletics on the field, I always wanted to make people smile in whatever sport I was going after,” said D.C. Banks, a player for the Llamas. “I was never an actor didn’t do theater but I’ve always been a performer.”<\/p>\n
So baseball requires a lot of skill, but Boom Ball even more so. The players are out here in Baseballtown training and getting ready for the next game.<\/p>\n
“Boom Ball is just so amazing, it’s been a dream, I’m just so blessed to be out here, just to be able to give back to the game, inspire others,” said Hannah File, recently traded to the Llamas.<\/p>\n
