EASTON, Pa. – Lights, camera, action.<\/p>\n
A historic Northampton County courtroom became a movie set Friday as a feature film being produced in the Lehigh Valley brought actors, crew members and extras together for a pivotal scene.<\/p>\n
\u201cMen of Granite\u201d is being filmed at locations throughout the region through Aug. 17, including Union Cemetery in Hellertown, Yocco\u2019s Hot Dogs in Allentown, Lehigh Valley International Airport and St. Luke\u2019s University Health Network\u2019s Sacred Heart campus.<\/p>\n
The film centers on four older veterans who serve on an honor guard for a local cemetery.<\/p>\n
The story takes a turn when a young man crashes his car into the cemetery, leading to a court hearing, the scene being filmed Friday inside the Northampton County Courthouse.<\/p>\n
For actor and filmmaker Daniel Roebuck, a Bethlehem native who has long maintained ties to the Lehigh Valley, the production is a chance to bring a new story to the community where he grew up.<\/p>\n
Roebuck is also working closely with his daughter, Grace Roebuck Butler, who serves as the film\u2019s co-writer, director and producer alongside her father.<\/p>\n
Their collaboration has even created a friendly competition on set.<\/p>\n
\u201cShe likes to say action, but I try to get it out first,\u201d Roebuck said. \u201cThat’s kind of our game is who can say action first.\u201d<\/p>\n
But the connection behind \u201cMen of Granite\u201d goes beyond Roebuck and his daughter.<\/p>\n
After years of working together, Roebuck said the production team has developed its own close-knit bond.<\/p>\n
\u201cThese people are some of the greatest, hardest-working people in the world,\u201d Roebuck said. \u201cRight now we have built this infrastructure and we love this infrastructure. We love each and every one of them.\u201d<\/p>\n
Roebuck said the goal is to release \u201cMen of Granite\u201d on Veterans Day in 2027.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"EASTON, Pa. – Lights, camera, action.
