\t\t\tOBITUARY\t\t<\/p>\n
Joan Alimenti Marra, 80, of Eynon, died Saturday at Geisinger CMC, following complications from heart surgery. She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Thomas Marra.<\/p>\n
\nBorn in Peckville on September 1, 1945, daughter of the late Arnold and Sadie Alimenti, Joan was a 1963 graduate of Blakely High School. On November 12, 1966, she married Thomas, her great love, and they built the house in Eynon that was their home for the next 56 years. She was then a typist for Dun & Bradstreet, Scranton, until the birth of her first child. Later she worked as a secretary at Mini Golf, Jessup, then spent 20 years as a secretary for Sewack Insurance Agency, Peckville, prior to retiring. She was a member of Christ the King Parish, Archbald and a member of their Altar and Rosary Society.<\/p>\n
\nAlso surviving are her son, Brian Marra of Oklahoma City; her daughter, Denise Eppich and husband Anton of Boise; grandsons Len and Garrett Eppich; an aunt; several brothers\/sisters-in-law; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.<\/p>\n
\nJoan was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who put God first in her life and who deeply treasured her family. Her favorite memories were of family trips to Yellowstone, Grand Teton, and Glacier National Parks and daily long walks along the Lackawanna river trails. She was incredibly proud of her grandsons and always had time for them, whether that be through a collaborative Scrabble game, heated rounds of Rummy, or a long phone call. Joan was a genuinely kind person who wanted the best for everyone and made all guests welcome in her home. She also enjoyed reading, gardening, baking, daily rosary, happily experimenting with new recipes, and was an extraordinarily gifted cook in her beloved home kitchen.<\/p>\n
\nHer family is grateful for the compassionate care she received in her final days at Geisinger.<\/p>\n
\nThe funeral will be on Saturday, August 8th, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am in Christ the King Parish at St. Thomas Aquinas Church, Archbald. Interment will follow at St. Francis Cemetery, Eynon. Friends may call Saturday morning from 9 to 10 am at the church.<\/p>\n
\nIn lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude\u2019s Children\u2019s Hospital or St. Joseph\u2019s Center in Scranton.<\/p>\n
