State Senators Judy Schwank (D-11) and Dave Argall (R-29) have announced the appointment of Dr. Edward B. Michalik Jr. to serve as a public member of Pennsylvania\u2019s State Board of Examiners of Nursing Home Administrators. Michalik was unanimously confirmed by the Pennsylvania Senate to a four-year term on the board, which oversees the licensure and professional standards of nursing home administrators across the commonwealth.<\/p>\n

Michalik currently serves as president and chief executive officer of Threshold Rehabilitation Services Inc. in Reading. Previously, he served as executive director of the Berks County Area Agency on Aging and held leadership roles within the county\u2019s mental health and developmental disabilities programs for more than two decades.<\/p>\n
Michalik earned a doctoral degree in psychology from Immaculata University, a master\u2019s degree in rehabilitation counseling from the University of Scranton, and a bachelor\u2019s degree in human services from the University of Scranton.<\/p>\n
Throughout his career, he has been actively involved in public safety initiatives, crisis intervention training and community service organizations across Berks County. He has also served as a member of Shillington Borough Council, the Governor Mifflin School Board, and numerous nonprofit and professional organizations.<\/p>\n
\u201cI consider it a privilege to have been appointed to this board as it is yet another way I can contribute to the commonwealth and my community, while supporting the goal of ensuring quality of care to our senior citizens,\u201d Michalik said in a statement.<\/p>\n

Evdoxia (\u201cXia\u201d) Madonis has joined the law firm of Barley Snyder as an associate in its Business Practice Group, based in the firm\u2019s Lancaster office.<\/p>\n
Madonis advises clients on a variety of corporate and business matters, drawing on experience with complex transactions, corporate governance issues, regulatory compliance, and contract drafting and negotiation. She joins Barley after practicing at an AmLaw 100 law firm in New York City, where she worked on sophisticated capital markets and corporate transactions. Prior to her legal career, Madonis worked in Morgan Stanley\u2019s internal audit department, focusing on credit risk, operational risk and wealth management matters.<\/p>\n

A Lancaster County native and graduate of Manheim Township High School, Madonis returned to her hometown after living and working in New York City for several years.<\/p>\n
Madonis earned her J.D. from the New York University School of Law, where she served as a research assistant focusing on corporate compliance and enforcement matters, was a staff editor and publications committee member of the Journal of Law & Business, and interned with the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission\u2019s Division of Enforcement. She received her B.S. in Applied Accounting & Finance, magna cum laude, from Fordham University\u2019s Gabelli School of Business. She is admitted to practice in Pennsylvania and New York.<\/p>\n
