\t\t\tOBITUARY\t\t<\/p>\n
Joseph P. Kilcullen, 86, passed away peacefully on July 28, 2026, surrounded by his family.<\/p>\n
\nBorn on October 26, 1939, Joseph lived a life defined by service, resilience, compassion, and an unwavering love for his family. He was the son of the late William Kilcullen and Alice (McGee) Kilcullen of Scranton, Pennsylvania.<\/p>\n
\nHe was preceded in death by his wife and love of his life, Brenda Stratemeyer Kilcullen, and his siblings, William, Robert, Mary Alice, and Martin Kilcullen, all of Scranton, PA.<\/p>\n
\nJoseph proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War era, carrying with him a deep sense of patriotism and dedication throughout his life.<\/p>\n
\nAbove all else, Joe cherished his family. He is survived by his children, Kelly Kilcullen (NH), Gillian Hubley (NC), Mary \u201cKate\u201d Kilcullen (RI), and Margaret Kilcullen (NC). He is also survived by his stepchildren, Peter Stratemeyer and wife Nancy (MA), Katherine Stratemeyer Franz and husband Dave (NH), Jason Stratemeyer and wife Debbie (WA), and Charles Stratemeyer (CO).<\/p>\n
\nJoe was the proud grandfather of Erin Wilkie, Anthony Kilcullen, Alyssa Scobie, Joseph Napli, Victoria Simard, Alexandria DiMarzio, Samantha DiMarzio, Eric Kilcullen, Stephine Brett and husband Travis, Rebekah Ballou, Cecily Ballou, Annika Stratemeyer, Amelia Stratemeyer, Kayleigh Ann Wright, and Brenda Stratemeyer. He was also blessed with fifteen great-grandchildren, as well as many cherished nieces and nephews.<\/p>\n
\nOne of Joe\u2019s greatest accomplishments was his remarkable recovery journey. He celebrated 44 years of sobriety, and throughout those years devoted himself to helping others find hope, healing, and strength in their own lives. A longtime friend of Bill W\u2019s, Joe generously shared his experience, strength, and hope with countless individuals, serving as a mentor, counselor, sponsor, and friend. His compassion and willingness to help others transformed lives and left a lasting impact on his recovery community.<\/p>\n
\nJoe had a special love for the New Hampshire Seacoast and its beaches, where he found peace, joy, and treasured time with family. Whether sharing stories, enjoying the ocean air, or making memories with his children and grandchildren, those moments brought him great happiness.<\/p>\n
\nHe will also be remembered for his wonderful sense of humor and playful spirit. Joe was a natural jokester who loved making people laugh. His quick wit, warm smile, and ability to find humor even in difficult times brought comfort and joy to everyone who knew him.<\/p>\n
\nThough he will be deeply missed, Joe\u2019s legacy of love, service, recovery, laughter, and devotion to family will live on in the many lives he touched.<\/p>\n
\nA Celebration of Joe\u2019s Life will be held on Wednesday, August 12, 2026, from 9:30 a.m. to 12:00pm at the United Methodist Church, Basement Hall, 525 Lafayette Road, Hampton, NH 03842.<\/p>\n
\nIn lieu of flowers or memorial donations, Joe\u2019s family asks that you honor his memory by supporting your local small businesses and community establishments, something he greatly appreciated throughout his life.<\/p>\n
