ALLENTOWN, Pa. — Cruising down Hamilton Street in Allentown, cars and trucks from old to new lined the street Sunday for the Classics and Cruisers on Hamilton Car Show.<\/p>\n
It is an annual event giving car enthusiasts a glimpse into the Queen City’s past.<\/p>\n
“I tell people that the movie American Graffiti could’ve been filmed on Hamilton Street in Allentown,” said Jim Gress, car show organizer and Assistant Allentown Police Chief.<\/p>\n
Gress showed off his red 1970 Chevy Malibu.<\/p>\n
“Redid everything step by step,” said Gress.<\/p>\n
He did all the work before selling the classic car. It is a car with a deep personal meaning. Before selling it, he put a photo of his daughter in the owner’s manual.<\/p>\n
“The car went through three different owners before I got it back through the strangest coincidence you could ever imagine and that picture is still there,” said Gress.<\/p>\n
Nearby, John Bujalski revved up his 1965 convertible Thunderbird.<\/p>\n
“Rangoon red, beautiful car, we love it,” said Bujalski.<\/p>\n
He has owned the car for four years.<\/p>\n
“Just a lot of upgrading, but overall, it’s a great ride,” said Bujalski.<\/p>\n
Cars have meant a lot to him.<\/p>\n
“It’s just enjoying life, you know. We’re retired, cruise around, our friends have been cruising around for 30-plus years, these ones next to us and we got hooked. Here we are at another car show,” said Bujalski.<\/p>\n
Gress said it is not just cars he wants people to see.<\/p>\n
