SALISBURY TOWNSHIP, Pa. \u2014 A 3-month-old fawn that was being rehabilitated after being shot in the head with a BB gun has been euthanized.<\/p>\n

Pocono Wildlife Rehabilitation, which took in the fawn, made the announcement on its Facebook page Sunday.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhile it wasn\u2019t necessarily an unexpected decision, she did give us a small bit of hope when she managed to get herself back up and walking over the first 24 hours,\u201d the post reads. \u201cThe first 2 nights she did surprisingly well and usually that\u2019s the more difficult part. Unfortunately the following night around 4 a.m. she started seizing again. We were able to get it under control but her vet appointment revealed more of the damage that none of us were able to see prior and made it clear this was likely something she would not be able to overcome.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cShe was kept comfortable the entire time and was not alone,\u201d the post continued.<\/p>\n

Pocono Wildlife originally shared the news of the fawn, named Jo, on their Facebook page Tuesday.<\/p>\n

She was found near the Mountain House Girl Scout Camp on West Rock Road.<\/p>\n

Jo was taken to Jessica Metzgar, who is part of Wilderz at Pocono Wildlife and has been rehabilitating fawns for four years.<\/p>\n

\u201cFor it to go from her skull from one side to another, they would have had to have been close enough that they knew it was a fawn, so there\u2019s definitely a concerns that it was intentional,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
