{"id":262402,"date":"2026-08-10T04:10:15","date_gmt":"2026-08-10T04:10:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/262402\/"},"modified":"2026-08-10T04:10:15","modified_gmt":"2026-08-10T04:10:15","slug":"scranton-hosts-5th-annual-african-heritage-festival","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/262402\/","title":{"rendered":"Scranton hosts 5th annual African Heritage Festival"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The African Heritage Festival in Lackawanna County celebrated diversity and featured an African traditional attire competition and other special performances.<\/p>\n<p>SCRANTON, Pa. \u2014 The 5th annual African Heritage Festival took place Sunday in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wnep.com\/section\/lackawanna-county\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">Lackawanna County<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The cultural event along Jackson Street in Scranton featured vendors, food trucks, an art gallery, and special performances.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>An opening ceremony kicked off the celebration, where an Emcee welcomed guests and acknowledged elected officials.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Organizers say today&#8217;s festival is not only a good time, but also highlights the importance of diversity and culture in Scranton.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;This area is a place that is undeserved. It&#8217;s usually undeserved.
