The Northwest Regional Firefighter Challenge took place July 23 until July 25 in Akron, Ohio. Several City of Erie firefighters competed and rose to the challenge.<\/p>\n
The Firefighter Challenge Championship Series has been testing the skills of firefighters for more than 30 years.<\/p>\n
The competition features a series of real-world, job-related obstacles designed to showcase the strength, endurance and readiness of fire crews.<\/p>\n
Open to firefighters of all experience levels, the series also promotes fitness and training while encouraging the next generation of first responders to pursue careers in the fire service.<\/p>\n
City of Erie firefighter Judah Gardner says the competition highlights the everyday skills needed for the job.<\/p>\n
“It’s just a good way to represent your fire department.\u201d Stated Gardner, \u201cAnd it’s a good way to show you’re fully capable for the job. And it’s just a fun competition to do with other fire departments as well.”<\/p>\n
The National Firefighter Challenge will take place September 23 until September 26 here in Erie.<\/p>\n
