{"id":262813,"date":"2026-08-10T20:02:08","date_gmt":"2026-08-10T20:02:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/262813\/"},"modified":"2026-08-10T20:02:08","modified_gmt":"2026-08-10T20:02:08","slug":"ontario-woman-arrested-after-alleged-gold-theft-in-u-s","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/262813\/","title":{"rendered":"Ontario woman arrested after alleged gold theft in U.S."},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"c-paragraph\">A woman from Beamsville, Ont., who has been accused of stealing more than $43,000 worth of gold and silver in Pennsylvania was arrested while attempting to cross back into Canada, according to police in the United States.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">The alleged theft occurred May 11 in Bensalem Township, Penn., which is an approximately 40-minute drive from Philadelphia.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/crimewatch.net\/us\/pa\/bucks\/bensalem-pd\/15488\/post\/bensalem-arrest-woman-canada-theft-gold-and-silver\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/crimewatch.net\/us\/pa\/bucks\/bensalem-pd\/15488\/post\/bensalem-arrest-woman-canada-theft-gold-and-silver\">According to Bensalem Township Police,<\/a> the victim was waiting for the delivery of a package containing gold and silver when a family member saw the suspect claim to be the rightful owner, signing for the package before fleeing the area with the stolen goods.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">The precious metals were estimated to be worth a total of $43,549.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Investigators say they then used different tracking and surveillance technology, including licence-plate readers, intersection cameras and other surveillance footage, to track the suspect\u2019s vehicle, a Nissan sedan.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Police discovered the suspect rented the vehicle from an Enterprise Rent-A-Car at the Philadelphia airport on May 10. On May 11, after the alleged theft, police say she returned the vehicle and flew to Arizona.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">An arrest warrant was issued for the suspect and police then notified U.S. Customs and Border Protection.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Hogan was in the United States while on a visa at the time of her arrest.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">On July 5, while attempting to cross back into Canada at a border crossing in Lewiston, N.Y. police arrested Kaileigh Hogan, of Beamsville, Ont.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">She is facing numerous charges, including forgery (F2), theft by unlawful taking (F3) and theft by deception (F3).<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">The charges have not been tested in court.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Hogan was taken to Bensalem Township Police headquarters, where an arraignment occurred and her bail was set at $100,000.
