The health care provider announced it is expanding its services to the Poconos.<\/p>\n

SCRANTON, Pa. \u2014 The Wright Center<\/a> announced Monday a big change for community health in northeastern Pennsylvania.<\/p>\n

“Today is truly one of those rare moments where gratitude feels a lot larger than words,” said Dr. Linda Thomas-Hemak, President and CEO of the Wright Centers for Community Health and Graduate Medical Education.<\/p>\n

The Wright Center is now a ‘Federally Qualified Health Center,’ opening it up to federal operational grants. This is not something the center has had in the past.<\/p>\n

“This will open up the capacity for federal grant opportunities to a totally different level. We talked about the expansion of the Wright Center into Monroe County, so this just totally redefines community health care for northeastern Pennsylvania,” said Rep. Bresnahan (R), 8th District.<\/p>\n

“Greater access to care, greater stability for our graduate medical education safety net consortium enterprise, and a healthier future for our thousands of people throughout northeastern Pennsylvania,” said Deborah Kolsovsky, Board of Directors at the Wright Center.<\/p>\n

The Wright Center says having this designation can help its staff provide health care to everyone regardless of insurance status or ability to pay.<\/p>\n

“It’ll create jobs, it’ll create career opportunities for people that want to work in community health care settings, and most importantly, it’ll allow us to continue to sustain and expand the whole person primary medical, behavioral, mental health, and dental services that we offer to patients. And we’re excited about moving into Monroe County,” said Dr. Thomas-Hemak.<\/p>\n
