Community members gathered in Scranton to honor late firefighter Kelly ‘Hoppy’ Hopkins, who passed away in April of 2025 after a battle with esophageal cancer. <\/p>\n

SCRANTON, Pa. \u2014 A memorial event honored a late firefighter Saturday in Lackawanna County<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Community members gathered in front of Minooka American Legion along Birney Avenue in Scranton to honor the late Kelly Hopkins.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Lieutenant Kelly “Hoppy” Hopkins passed away in April of 2025 due to esophageal cancer.\u00a0<\/p>\n

He was a devoted member of the Scranton Fire Department and today, family and friends decided to celebrate his life and legacy.\u00a0<\/p>\n

“Not a day goes by that we don’t miss him….so happy to honor him in this way,” said Assistant Chief Jeffery White.<\/p>\n
