MEDIA, Pa. (KYW Newsradio) \u2014 An 18-year-old has been sentenced more than a year after he shot and killed a 16-year-old Upper Darby High School student.<\/p>\n
\u201cNever would I imagine I would be sitting in the courtroom for my son\u2019s murder,\u201d said Talaya Shaw. Her son, 16-year-old Khalief Webster, was gunned down<\/a> near their Upper Darby home in May 2025.<\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019s been hard. It\u2019s been devastating. Parenthood looks different,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n Michael Nixon<\/a> was 17 at the time of the shooting and charged as an adult<\/a>. <\/p>\n He pleaded guilty to third-degree murder in what prosecutors called an unprovoked attack. Police said he walked up to Webster, who was riding a bike, shot him in the chest, and left him for dead. Nixon then fled to New Jersey.<\/p>\n He was sentenced on Tuesday to 18 to 36 years in prison. <\/p>\n Shaw believes the sentence is a slap on the wrist compared to the loss of her son.<\/p>\n \u201c[Nixon] didn\u2019t call for help,\u201d she said. \u201cHe didn\u2019t say, \u2018I shot somebody, please call 911.\u2019 You know what he did?
