The ramp from Bridge Street to northbound I-95 will close for good on the night of Friday, Aug. 21.<\/p>\n
This ramp closure is a part of the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation’s (PennDOT) $267.9 million I-95 Section BS2 project. <\/p>\n
The BS2 project will reconstruct and widen I-95 from Margaret to Van Kirk streets in Northeast Philadelphia. <\/p>\n
Beginning 8 p.m. on Aug. 21, 2026, the ramp will close ahead of the start of construction of a new on-ramp to northbound I-95 from Tacony Street and the Delaware Avenue extension. The new ramp is expected to open in late 2027.<\/p>\n
While the ramp is closed, drivers will be redirected to Tacony Street and State Road\/New State Road to enter the northbound I-95 on-ramp at Milnor Street in Northeast Philadelphia. <\/p>\n
On the night of Aug. 21, as construction begins on northbound I-95 at the Bridge Street Interchange, traffic will shift to the reconstructed southbound lanes. PennDOT says construction on the project should be completed by Spring 2028.<\/p>\n
PennDOT recomends drivers allow for extra time while traveling along the detour route as backups and delays are expected. <\/p>\n
