Whitehall man charged after alleged meat cleaver attack; 1 person injured<\/p>\n

A man is facing several charges, including attempted criminal homicide, after police said he stabbed his neighbor with a meat cleaver in what he claims was retaliation for being bullied. <\/p>\n

According to a criminal complaint, police were called to the 1400 block of Maple Drive in Whitehall on Aug. 2 before 8:30 p.m. following reports of a man who had been stabbed in the back of the neck. <\/p>\n

When police arrived on the scene, they said the victim was found holding a napkin to the back of his neck. A meat cleaver was also found on the ground close to the victim.<\/p>\n

Upon speaking with the victim and two other men who were home at the time, they said 36-year-old Rup Koirala, 36, \u201cshowed up \u2026 uninvited\u201d as the three sat in the backyard. <\/p>\n

The victim told police Koirala knew he was not welcome. <\/p>\n

According to the complaint, Koirala went into the house and then emerged with a meat cleaver. He then swung the cleaver and struck the victim in the back of the neck, leaving a 4-inch gash. <\/p>\n

Koirala was then said to have dropped the cleaver and left the scene. <\/p>\n

The victim was taken to an area hospital. His current condition remains unknown. <\/p>\n

The suspect was later arrested at a Radford Road apartment. <\/p>\n

Koirala stated to police that he was “tired of being bullied,” leading him to pulling the meat cleaver. <\/p>\n
