{"id":264036,"date":"2026-08-12T16:34:19","date_gmt":"2026-08-12T16:34:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/264036\/"},"modified":"2026-08-12T16:34:19","modified_gmt":"2026-08-12T16:34:19","slug":"open-streets-west-walnut-brings-back-car-free-sundays-this-fall-nbc10-philadelphia","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/264036\/","title":{"rendered":"Open streets West Walnut brings back car-free Sundays this fall \u2013 NBC10 Philadelphia"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Open Streets: West Walnut is returning to Center City this fall, bringing seven consecutive Sundays of car-free streets. <\/p>\n<p>The event will run from Sept. 13 through Oct. 25, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. each Sunday, along portions of Walnut and 18th streets, <a href=\"https:\/\/centercityphila.org\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Center City District<\/a> (CCD) announced. <\/p>\n<p>Street closures will be in effect from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. along Walnut Street from Broad to 19th streets and along 18th Street from Chestnut to Locust streets. Sansom, 15th, 16th, and 17th streets will remain open to vehicle traffic.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The pedestrian-only streets will serve as an extension of public space, allowing room for expanded al fresco dining and sidewalk retail. Businesses along the route may also offer special promotions, in-store entertainment or exclusive experiences.<\/p>\n<p>Organizers said the expanded fall season is intended to encourage residents and visitors to spend Sundays in the area while supporting neighborhood restaurants, retailers, and other businesses.<\/p>\n<p>Since launching in September 2024, Open Streets: West Walnut has repeatedly welcomed an average of more than 10,500 visitors.
