PITTSBURGH \u2014 A man and woman are dead after a shooting in Pittsburgh\u2019s Northview Heights neighborhood Wednesday.<\/p>\n
Officers were called to the 100 block of Hazlett Street just after 9 a.m. for a two-round ShotSpotter alert, according to Pittsburgh Public Safety Department spokesperson Emily Bourne.<\/p>\n
While responding, police received multiple calls about a shooting inside an apartment.<\/p>\n
Officers found two people, a man and a woman, dead on the second floor of one of the units, Bourne said. <\/p>\n
Wednesday afternoon, the Allegheny County Medical Examiner\u2019s Office identified them as Shaelynn Maria Moore, 30, of Brighton Heights, and Mark Allen Jones, 24, of Northview Heights.<\/p>\n
Besides them, no one else was injured in the shooting. Bourne said there is no threat to the public.<\/p>\n
Four children \u2014 ages 11, 9, 7 and 7 \u2014 were inside the apartment at the time. They were taken to UPMC Children\u2019s Hospital as a preventative measure and will undergo forensic interviews later, Bourne said. <\/p>\n
Crime scene investigators found multiple shell casings at the apartment. Bourne said damage to the unit indicates that some rounds were fired outside the apartment before the incident moved inside.<\/p>\n
Drone 11 captured the scene from above, showing multiple evidence markers on the ground outside the apartment.<\/p>\n
Bourne said the investigation is ongoing, and many details are still unclear, including Moore and Jones\u2019 relationship to each other and their connection to the four children.<\/p>\n
Witnesses claimed there was some sort of domestic incident before the shooting, Bourne said. <\/p>\n
Moore and Jones\u2019 cause and manner of death have not yet been released.<\/p>\n
