HARRISBURG, Pa. (WHTM) \u2014 A Pennsylvania lawmaker is proposing a potential solution to help save teen’s lives.<\/p>\n
Rep. David Delloso (D-Delaware) plans to introduce a bill to require middle school and high schools to place the national, state, or local suicide prevention hotline number on student ID cards.<\/p>\n
“Ensuring students have immediate access to crisis resources can help them seek and receive support when they need it most,” he wrote in a co-sponsorship memo. He noted that 20% of high school students in the United States seriously considered attempting suicide in the prior 12 months in a 2023 study. “By raising awareness and providing resources directly to students, we can better support their mental health and help prevent the worst from occurring.”<\/p>\n
He said Michigan and New Hampshire had both passed similar legislation.<\/p>\n
