The company is holding a groundbreaking ceremony Thursday for its new 115,000-square-foot grocery store in Butler County.  <\/p>\n<p data-node-id=\"1\">The store will be built on Cool Springs Drive in Cranberry Township, which is right off I-79 and Route 228.  <\/p>\n<p data-node-id=\"2\">Officials said the store will bring about 450 jobs to the community once it is finished. New renderings of the store\u2019s design are expected to be unveiled during the event.   <\/p>\n<p data-node-id=\"3\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.wtae.com\/article\/wegmans-pennsylvania-cranberry-township\/63411458\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Wegmans announced <\/a>it was expanding into western Pennsylvania for the first time in 2025.<\/p>\n<p data-node-id=\"4\">&#8220;The store will feature all the traditional departments Wegmans customers have come to know and love, including an abundant produce department, a wide variety of seafood, meat, bakery, deli, and cheese options, and a large selection of wine and beer,&#8221; Wegmans said in a previous news release.<\/p>\n<p data-node-id=\"5\">The move puts Wegmans in competition with longstanding grocers, including Giant Eagle, which <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wtae.com\/article\/giant-eagle-headquarters-cranberry-township-butler-county\/60472371\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">moved its headquarters to Cranberry last year<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p data-node-id=\"6\">&#8220;You need to be able to see what else is available, and it also allows us to benchmark to make sure that we&#8217;re providing the best opportunities,&#8221; said Gary Lechter, store operations regional manager for Wegmans&#8217; Pennsylvania division. &#8220;Not only do we want to provide the greatest ingredients, the greatest meals, but also the best prices, so we need to have competition for that in order for us to compare favorably.&#8221; <\/p>\n<p data-node-id=\"7\">Store officials are hoping to open the location next fall.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Wegmans to break ground on first western Pennsylvania store Thursday CRANBERRY TOWNSHIP, Pa. \u2014 Wegmans fans rejoice.
