UPPER SAUCON TWP., Pa.- Disruptions overseas are casting a shadow over what otherwise would have been a positive second quarter for Shift4.<\/p>\n
The Lehigh County-based payment processing company has lowered\u00a0its 2026 revenue outlook based on an anticipated $25 million impact stemming from travel disruptions in the Middle East.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Shift4 now expects to finish fiscal 2026 with gross revenue (less network fees) between $2.48 billion to $2.53 billion, down from $2.5 billion to $2.6 billion.<\/p>\n
The company has also adjusted its\u00a0forecast for earnings per share (EPS) to between $5.15 and $5.35, down from a range of $5.50 and $5.70.<\/p>\n
Still, CEO Taylor Lauber chose to focus on the positive during the company’s latest earnings webcast, pointing out that the recent World Cup matches in North America were a chance for Shift4 to shine.<\/p>\n
“This tournament was a great unifying event and an unparalleled showcase for Shift4’s ability to help merchants deliver the moments that matter on one of the sports world’s greatest stages,” Lauber said.<\/p>\n
“Shift4 technology could be found at every match in both the U.S. and Canada, and of course across the broader experience economy of restaurants and hotels,\u201d the CEO added.<\/p>\n
Second quarter statistics<\/p>\n
Despite the headwinds from conflict in the Middle East, “We were able to absorb some of the travel disruption impact from strong U.S. to Europe travel, strong performance in Asia, and overall better than expected trends in same-store sales for both restaurants and lodgings,” said Lauber.\u00a0<\/p>\n
For the second quarter of fiscal 2026, Shift4’s gross revenue was $1.3 billion, up 34% year over year. Gross revenue (less network fees) was $624 million, and gross profit was $420 million, up 51% and 53% year over year, respectively.<\/p>\n
Net income was $24 million. EBITA (Earnings Before Interest, Taxes, and Amortization) was $238 million and Adjusted EBITA was $284 million. Each was up 45% and 39%, respectively, the company said.<\/p>\n
GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) EPS was reported as $.08, while Non-GAAP EPS was $1.32.<\/p>\n
Expansion plans continue<\/p>\n
Shift4 expects to introduce its Shift4 One product into more international markets in the months and years ahead.<\/p>\n
The handheld device can convert currency and exchange rates on the spot while also automating the VAT (Value Added Tax) refund process that’s widely used in Europe.<\/p>\n
It’s the first\u00a0jointly developed piece of hardware from Shift4 and Globel Blue, which Shift4 acquired last year.<\/p>\n
“We are now live in 12 countries, well on track to surpass our annual goal of being live in 15 countries by the end of 2026,” Lauber said.<\/p>\n
In the markets<\/p>\n
Shares of Shift4 (NYSE: FOUR) have cooled in recent weeks. They were listed at $46.16 late Thursday morning, which is near the bottom of their 52-week range.<\/p>\n
Shares were in the mid-$50 range in late July and early August.<\/p>\n
