ALLENTOWN, Pa. – Allentown Police say an officer discharged their duty weapon and killed a dog after it charged at them.<\/p>\n
Officers responded to the 1900 block of Turner Street for the report of two loose dogs that were biting multiple people, the Allentown Police Department said in a news release.<\/p>\n
City police said officers found the dogs, and one of them charged toward an officer.<\/p>\n
According to police, the officer discharged their duty weapon, killing the dog that charged.<\/p>\n
The second dog is still alive and on a 10-day rabies quarantine, according to Teisha Jones from the Lehigh Valley Humane Society.<\/p>\n
The living dog will be examined at the end of the quarantine period before being released by the vet, Jones said.<\/p>\n
Police said three bite victims with moderate injuries were located.<\/p>\n
