A man who fell multiple stories down an elevator shaft in Pittsburgh was rescued after being stuck for six hours.<\/p>\n

“He’s pretty lucky to be alive,” Pittsburgh Bureau of EMS District Chief Mike Rogers said. <\/p>\n

Officials say they responded to a 911 call to an abandoned building on River Avenue Thursday afternoon. <\/p>\n

When they arrived, Rogers said no one was there to meet them. Rescue crews then had to find the man after making entry through the front. <\/p>\n

“He was in shaft number two. It appears at the bottom with an elevator car above him,” Rogers said. <\/p>\n

The man told first responders he fell about six stories. <\/p>\n

Officials said they had trouble getting access to the man but were eventually able to get him out and into an ambulance.<\/p>\n

According to officials, the man sustained injuries to both of his legs and had multiple other aches and pains. <\/p>\n

Rogers told Pittsburgh’s Action News 4 the man may have been with other people but those people took off before responders arrived. <\/p>\n
