ALLENTOWN, Pa. — Allentown Police said an officer shot and killed a dog that charged at them on the 1900 block of West Turner Street around 2 p.m. Wednesday.<\/p>\n
According to investigators, three people were bit.<\/p>\n
A man we spoke with over the phone tells us he was one of the victims and is feeling sore. He said he will be getting rabies shots.<\/p>\n
Annette Gomez said she was attacked by two dogs in March, including the one that was shot and killed.<\/p>\n
“It was a very traumatizing experience and knowing again that it happened yesterday and the magnitude of which it happened is very sad to me,” said Gomez.<\/p>\n
The Lehigh Valley Humane Society said the other dog involved in the attack is in rabies quarantine for 10 days. According to the humane society, after those 10 days, it will need to be examined by a vet.<\/p>\n
Police said all Wednesday’s bite victims have moderate injuries.<\/p>\n
“This really could’ve been prevented, yes. I reported it to authorities. The day I got attacked, the police were here. I had to go to the emergency room,” said Gomez.<\/p>\n
Gomez said she had contacted police and the humane society. The humane society told us earlier that it is not aware of any complaints about the dogs. Police said the investigation into what happened Wednesday remains active and ongoing.<\/p>\n
“It resulted in something very tragic with the dog, you know I don’t like to say that I’m happy the dog died because I’m not. I’m a dog lover myself, but it’s just a shame that it had to come to that,” said Gomez.<\/p>\n
69 News followed up with police regarding Gomez contacting them and also to see if any charges have been filed.
