Pittsburgh police: ‘Critical incident’ in Lincoln-Lemington-Belmar is officer-involved shooting<\/p>\n

Allegheny County police are investigating after a Pittsburgh police officer shot a suspect, they said.<\/p>\n

Victor Joseph, assistant superintendent of Allegheny County police, said Pittsburgh police originally responded to reports of three men arguing and threatening to pull guns. <\/p>\n

The incident is happening in the 6600 block of Lyric Street in the city’s Lincoln-Lemington-Belmar neighborhood on Thursday night.<\/p>\n

When two Zone Two officers arrived, they encountered one man with a gun in the street, Joseph said. An officer fired at the suspect after the suspect refused to put the weapon down and made a quick turning motion, he said. <\/p>\n

The man was hit in the lower body area and was taken to the hospital, where they are in critical condition. <\/p>\n

Pittsburgh’s Action News 4 video showed a large police presence in the area.<\/p>\n

Police say the officer who fired was “not a rookie.” Allegheny County police are investigating. <\/p>\n
