PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) \u2014 Some residents in the Logan section of the city woke up to find an enormous sinkhole at the end of their street this morning.<\/p>\n
The hole opened up at 11th Street and Ruscomb Street following a water main break, stretching out into the intersection. Passing cars are forced to scoot around the hazard.<\/p>\n
Alvin Burrows lives on the same block as the sinkhole and feels lucky for not driving his car into the ditch.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are actually truly thanking God that we didn\u2019t fall there, because, again, I believe we were one of the last ones to drive by before the sinkhole appeared,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
No people have been hurt or cars damaged by the sinkhole. <\/p>\n
The hole itself is covered by about 15 2×10 wooden boards, and the water department has taped off the area and placed concrete blockades around the opening to prevent people or vehicles from falling in. <\/p>\n
Some homes in the area lost access to water for a time when the sinkhole opened, but it was quickly restored. <\/p>\n
