PITTSBURGH \u2014 Duquesne University broke ground Friday on an 82,000-square-foot Health Sciences Facility along Forbes Avenue. <\/p>\n
The $68 million, five-story development will house the John G. Rangos, Sr. School of Health Sciences.<\/p>\n
The new facility will bring together academic programs currently housed in multiple locations into a single space designed for hands-on learning, collaboration and innovation. <\/p>\n
The building expands the university\u2019s developing health care corridor along Forbes Avenue, sitting directly across the street from the Nasuti College of Osteopathic Medicine, which opened in 2024.<\/p>\n
In its first 35 years, the Rangos School established degree programs in physical therapy, occupational therapy, athletic training, physician assistant studies, speech-language pathology, public health and health administration.<\/p>\n
State Sen. Wayne Fontana voiced support for the project and its economic impact on the surrounding area. <\/p>\n
\u201cIt will be beneficial to the university and its students, but it\u2019s also a transformational project for our city and our region and will serve as a catalyst for continued economic growth in Uptown,\u201d Fontana said.<\/p>\n
Founded in 1878, Duquesne University enrolls nearly 8,200 undergraduate and graduate students. <\/p>\n
